Military brides thanked with free wedding gowns

The Eau Claire store was prepared to give away six free dresses to those who waited this Armed Forces Day. "We weren't sure if there would you to be 100 people here," Ashley says. "We didn't know what to expect so we decided to make it a few hours early and check it out." In all, five woman showed up early, waiting for 10 a.m., when the doors to Eau Claire's Bridal Shoppe opened and free wedding gowns awaited them. "I have a very long to do list so this is definitely helping me out," Ashley says. They've either served our country themselves or are engaged to someone who is. Right now,buy prom dresses they're all smiles, as they search hundreds of gowns for the perfect one. Ashley, a Menomonie resident, is among them. "I would just like to find a nice dress that I'm going to be proud to wear," says Ashley. It's just my way of doing that," says Bridal Shoppe owner Shannon Lindquist. "I think they have enough stresses in their life with someone being overseas. I think this is just one little way to help out." "I think these people deserve it for being out there and serving," says Keith Hanson, Ashley's father. Military brides could also pick out free veils, shoes and jewelry this morning. The Bridal Shoppe gave away more than $5,500 in dresses and accessories Saturday.
